Kugel is a traditional Jewish pudding or casserole of sweet egg noodles and fruit. Similar to a pie, Cherry Kugel has been a staple at Passover or Hanukkah for centuries. Even though it is very sweet, it is often served for dinner rather than dessert.

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
  3. Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain.
  4. Combine cottage cheese, sour cream, sugars, eggs, butter and almond extract in a large bowl. Stir in cooked noodles and cherries.
  5. Spoon into a greased 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
  6. Combine cornflakes, cinnamon and 1 tablespoon butter in small bowl; sprinkle over noodles.
  7. Bake for 50 - 60 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Let stand 10 minutes, before serving.
