Apple Pie Twists combine the classic flavors of apple pie with puff pastry in an easy to make breakfast or dessert.

Apple Pie Twists



  1. Thaw puff pastry according to package directions.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F.  Prepare baking sheets with parchment or silicone baking mats.
  3. In medium bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugars. Cook in large sauté pan for 5 to 7 minutes, or until fork tender. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll pastry dough sheets to 1/4-inch thick. Lightly spread on softened butter and sprinkle on half of cinnamon sugar mixture.
  5. Divide apple mixture and spoon onto half of each sheet. Fold pastry over, place on parchment paper on baking sheet and chill for 20 minutes. Once chilled, cut each pastry into 8 strips. Place onto prepared baking sheets and twist 2 times.
  6. Whisk egg in a bowl and with a pastry brush, lightly coat each twist, and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Bake twists for 15-20 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. Remove from oven and serve warm, or allow to cool. Optional toppings: sifted Powdered Sugar or glaze.
