This is the ultimate Hushpuppy recipe! A combination of Shrimp, Crabmeat and Crayfish Tails are combined to take these Hushpuppies to the next level and serve has a delicious side or appetizer.

  • 1 heaping teaspoon Imperial Sugar Extra Fine Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Creole seasoning or chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 onion chopped
  • 1 teaspoon pimento
  • 3 tablespoons boiled shrimp, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon crabmeat
  • 2 tablespoons crayfish tails
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour*
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

*Spoon & Sweep method: Use a spoon to fill measuring cup with flour until required amount is obtained. Scooping measuring cup directly into flour bag will firmly pack flour resulting in too much flour required for recipe.


  1. Preheat fryer to 365°F.
  2. Stir all ingredients in a bowl. Scoop batter in large tablespoon amounts into hot oil, being careful not to splash oil.
  3. Cook until golden, turning once in oil.
  4. Serve warm.
