This recipe is so easy, we almost feel guilty calling it a recipe. Making your own granola is a 1-2-3 type a thing. Pick up some old-fashioned oats in the bulk section of your grocery store for the very best deal, toss in some fruits and nuts of your choice, bake, and you're done!

Low Sugar Homemade Granola

  • 4 tablespoons Imperial Sugar Dark Brown Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • Dates, dried cranberries, raisins, pumpkin seeds, nuts, seeds etc.


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Bring sugar and water to a boil and pour in a bowl large enough to hold all ingredients.
  3. Add salt, oil, vanilla extract and oats.
  4. Toss to combine and add dried fruits etc.
  5. Scatter evenly onto 2 parchment lined cookie sheets and place in oven until oats are golden and crisp, about 15-20 minutes.
  6. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
